Francesca Naibo

Francesca Naibo, Italian guitarist and improvisor, moves easily across all guitar styles, from classical to electric, fretless, and pedal steel. Having spent years researching solo performance, she focuses on exploring the fields of free improvisation and contemporary music. Her interest is particularly focused on using both the acoustic and electric nature of her instrument, venturing from roaring drones to microscopic vibrations. She studied in Venice, Milan, Bern, and Basel, graduating in classical guitar and free improvisation. She transcribed “Exercises in Futility” in collaboration with Marc Ribot and is a certified Deep Listening® Facilitator. Since 2024, she has been pursuing a PhD in Artistic Research in Improvisational Languages ​​in Contemporary Music at Siena Jazz. She released two solo albums: “Namatoulee” (2020, Aut Records) and “So Much Time” (2022, Ramble Records). They were both enthusiastically received by critics. In 2022 a piece by Francesca was included in the prestigious “I Never Metaguitar 6,” a selection of the best guitarists curated by Elliott Sharp for Klanggalerie. Since 2020, she has been part of the Milanese collective “Conserere” and in 2023 she was included in the Fall Equinox 2023 Cohort 6 of Mutual Mentorship for Musicians. Francesca has an extensive artistic activity and performed in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Denmark, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, USA, South Africa and Australia.
