Daniel Martinho

Daniel Martinho is a Portuguese composer/performer based in Porto, mainly working on the intersection between acoustical instruments and electronics, for concert, theater and film. He completed the Composition Degree at ESMAE where he had the opportunity to work with professors such as Carlos Guedes, Dimitris Andrikopoulos, Klaas de Vries, Magnus Lindberg, Jonathan Harvey, Helmut Lachenmann, Vic Hoyland, Ricardo Climent, among others. In 2010, was appointed Young Composer-In-Residence at the Casa da Música and within this context three of his works were premiered by Matosinhos String Quartet, by Remix Ensemble Casa da Música and by the Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música. His works, from solo instruments to full orchestras, has been played throughout the world, from Portugal (Casa da Música, O’culto da Ajuda, Centro Cultural de Cascais, Cine-Teatro Constantino Nery, Centro de Arte de Ovar) to the United States of America (Berkley University and San Jose State University – California, University of Massachussets – Darmouth and Lowell, Rutgers University – New Jersey), Switzerland (Grosser Konzertsaal – Bern), Japan (Yamaha Hall – Tokyo, Phoenix Hall – Osaka), and China (Shaoxing Grand Theater).
